Flyin/Pancake breakfast fundraiser
Wings 'n Wheels
(link to site)
The band program has
recently been asked to bring a community wide
plane/car/etc show
to life in Lebanon. Along with this show (which will be free
and open to the public) we will hold a pancake breakfast in an
airplane hanger at the Warren County Airport. This will be the
only thing which will require a ticket.
A similar show occurs in Marion, Indiana
each year and all proceeds benefits their band program. We'd
like to imitate this event right here in Lebanon, OH!
If you are curious as to what we've been
asked to do, check out
www.flyincruisein.com
for more information about
what has been done in Marion, Indiana.
If you (or someone you know) is a part of
an airplane group, classic cars, motorcycle, tractor, jeep, RC
Airplane group, etc - we need your input! Or, if you think this
is just a cool idea, please become a part of the planning
committee. E-Mail
Pat Cieslak or
Lori Spencer if interested.

This weekend was a challenge for all, but our band parents found a way around obstacles and made everything run seamlessly.
First, we hosted Drive One 4UR School on Saturday at the JH. We had 218 test drivers!!!! That EXCEEDED our expectations. Thank you to everyone who took a test drive or brought in friends, family and neighbors to help with this.
Second, as if hosting the Drive One 4UR School wasn't enough, we also hosted our 11th annual Marching Invitational. We had 19 bands competing, our own band in exhibition AND the University Of Dayton Marching band perform at the end of the competition. I was sitting in the announcers booth and the ENERGY in that stadium was unexplainable. It was one of the BEST invitationals that I've ever seen at Lebanon Van deGrift Stadium. We had approximately 1550 marching band members in that stadium!
This successful day was the result of all of us pulling together and making it happen. Thank you to everyone who brought in food for hospitality, concessions or the bake sale. It was GONE by the end of the day! Many bellies were filled throughout our day.
Thank you to everyone who worked at the test drive or during the invitational. We couldn't have done this without YOU! Please pass my thanks along to other family members who worked at this event as well. A few of the students grandparents were helping out during the day too.
Special thanks go out to a few individuals. First, the parking crew.... Those gentlemen were at the stadium at 6AM (after most were at the football game the night before) and didn't leave until 11PM. That's more than a full day's work. They faced many obstacles during the day with traffic control. These guys didn't complain or let on to anyone that they were tired. THANK YOU - You guys are the GREATEST!!!
I'd also like to thank Scott Turner for leading the Drive One 4UR school event. He spent countless hours preparing for this, meeting with Ford, executing the logistics of the day. With 218 test drives, he was a true leader!
Our Invitational Staff was amazing. Some of the lead people had NEVER worked these jobs last year, but executed their roles as if they'd done this for years.
Last, but not least, our students were a tremendous help throughout the day. The marching band students all worked the entire day AND delivered an AMAZING performance.
I hope everyone is rested and ready to get back to life. We could not have pulled this off without everyone's effort.
If you have any comments on how to make our invitational even better next year, please pass those along to me.
GO BAND!
